1. Kick off the season at Oak Lawn’s Fall Music Festival
When: September 11–13, 2026
Where: Village festival grounds, Oak Lawn
Make live music your first fall outing. Oak Lawn’s festival features performances across several stages, giving you a chance to sample different sounds without building an elaborate itinerary. The published music hours are Friday, 6 p.m.–midnight; Saturday, noon–midnight; and Sunday, noon–8 p.m.
Choose a performer from the schedule and plan around that set, rather than trying to catch everything. This is an early-season event, so save the dates now—it wraps up September 13.

2. Make a downtown outing of Tinley Park Oktoberfest
When: September 18–20, 2026
Where: Harmony Square, 6700 North Street, Tinley Park
Tinley Park Oktoberfest brings German food, live entertainment, and a ceremonial keg tapping to Harmony Square. The 2026 location matters: use the current venue when planning your trip, not an older event listing.

3. Catch the parade at Palos Park’s Autumn in the Park

For a festival with free entry and free parking, put Autumn in the Park on your list. The Village’s schedule includes music, food vendors, artisan shopping, and Saturday children’s activities. Food and certain activities cost extra.
Friday’s festival runs 6–11 p.m. On Saturday, the parade begins at 1 p.m., followed by festival hours of 2–11 p.m. For a shorter outing, build your visit around the parade and afternoon activities instead of staying until closing.

4. See the monarchs at Lake Katherine in Palos Heights

Lake Katherine’s Monarch Butterfly Celebration & Maker’s Market combines nature education with a seasonal outing. Published hours are Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. The listed $10 ticket includes an animal visit, a hayride, and 15 minutes in the butterfly tent.

Bengtson’s Pumpkin Farm is an option for a full fall outing rather than a quick pumpkin stop. Its published attractions include rides, pig races, animal encounters, playgrounds, and seasonal photo opportunities.

6. Try the maze at Konow’s in Homer Glen
Opening day: September 19, 2026, at 10 a.m.
Where: 16849 S. Cedar Road, Homer Glen
Konow’s Corn Maze offers another Homer Glen fall option, with a corn maze, animal barn, rides, and an indoor playland. Choose it for an outing centered on exploring and playing rather than trying to visit both farms in one afternoon.
Check the daily schedule carefully: the published Tuesday opening time is later than on other days. The organizer lists different weekday and weekend admission prices, so compare the options before selecting a date.
7. Stroll the Scarecrow Trail in Lemont
When: September 26–November 1, 2026
Where: Lemont Township Heritage and Woodland Sanctuary, 16300 Alba Street, Lemont
The Lemont Junior Woman’s Club and Lemont Township Scarecrow Trail invites visitors to enjoy community-made displays and vote for their favorites. It is a good choice when you would rather wander and look closely than follow a packed entertainment schedule.
Visit by October 18 to vote. Winning scarecrows move to downtown Lemont’s Village Green for October 24 and remain there through November 1, so check the display location when planning a late-October visit.

8. Make Thursday morning market time in Evergreen Park
When: Thursdays through October 29, 2026, 8 a.m.–1 p.m.
Where: Yukich Fields, 89th Street and Kedzie Avenue, Evergreen Park
Not every fall plan needs to fill a Saturday. Evergreen Park’s Farmers Market offers a weekday option for browsing fresh produce, flowers, and other vendor goods.
